Monday Catchup

Before I start, I want to say hello to a few new followers on Bloglovin and to thank you for your encouraging comments.  I have been blogging for over a year now and although I am mainly doing it as a kind of diary for myself, it's lovely to have a few followers :-) Well I woke up Saturday morning to a card and chocolates for Valentines Day, which was very nice. We had to go out for a bit of shopping and we intended to buy a "meal deal" for the evening and OH was going to cook for me.  Tesco's deal was £20 but I saw this and we both love Indian food although we don't buy ready meals usually but this meal was supposed to be a treat for both of us. Cost £6.30. We brought this as a side dish for £1.50 as it was on offer but to be honest we didn't need this extra as there was already plenty for two. Pudding was in the reduced section for £2.65.   OH laid the table and we had the fairy lights on (that's why this isn't a clear photo) and we both put our glad

The snowdrops are peeping through the fence posts again this year. I didn't think they would come through as we really have piled up the grass cuttings and ash over the last year in their area but although they look so delicate, it just shows they are stronger than they look. I brought these primroses to put in a pot by the front door today, 99p from Home Bargains and they were being snapped up by people.  I just felt the need to have a little bit of colour to catch my eye outside and there are no signs yet of any daffodils coming through. Well I've shown you some pretty photos before I explain my blog title.  We have decided to apply for a council house in the village.  We have loved being in this cottage, with views like this how could we not. but there is a downside.. mould over all the walls, This is my bedroom ceiling.  We have tried to keep it at bay, we wash the walls down with white vinegar and then redecorate but it is a lot worse in other rooms.  My clothes smell must

February through the Window 2!

I seem to be having a window theme this month!   It's been great this week that the temperature has risen so much that the snow has cleared and we drove out at the weekend to do a food shop.  On the way home we stopped to take a look at a ruin that OH had had previously spotted that was having some work done on it.  He hadn't told me it was up quite a steep hill though!  The Woodland Trust had taken it over and built a framework within the remaining three walls of what looked like an old cottage and just put a roof over it.  It was open to the elements still but they have put in a couple of barbecues so it could be used as an entertainment area. Different use of a building I thought and in the summer it will be nice for the walkers.  Look at the lovely view through this little window. I like that someone has put the twigs in to divide it into panes. Changing the subject entirely look at all these lovely yummy bits of fabric I have acquired this week! Each pile of fabric was bei

February through the Window

We have had snow and icy conditions throughout the last two weeks.  It's amazing but there are different types of snow and we have had a lot of bitty snow, lots of powdery snow that blows around in the wind and icy snow that crunches underfoot.  Today we have had about 5 inches of lovely fluffy snow and that is the best kind I think. It's 4pm now and the sky is full of it still. OH is nearly up to his knees in the back garden!  It is so quiet outside as the snow muffles the sounds. You can see the sky is full of it.  Tomorrow we will be relying on the snow plough to come up and grit the road.  We have had a few days where we have been unable to get the car out down the hill.  Although I have been busy at work, we have been doing hundreds of items of clothing which are heading off to the Falkland Islands!, I have been doing a little bit of sewing Squares put together to make a few more handbags, Some tweed bunting made with scraps of tweed. A bit of appliqué using my machine ins
