Time flying by

I finished making my bag and have been using it this week.  Made out of scraps and lined with old curtain material

We went out Saturday evening to a friends house to celebrate an upcoming 50th Birthday. We all took a curry and I made 24 naan breads.  This is an economical way of having an evening out and we put on the old 80's disco music and had a good old dance.  My bag was much admired and a few hints were given out for Christmas!
The weather has certainly changed, the weekend turned very cold, wet and windy.  We have been having the fire on from late afternoon and I have had to start wearing my fingerless gloves in the house as my hands have really been aching.

They do help and I think I might make myself another pair soon.  I did a load of them as Christmas pressies a couple of years ago and haven't made any since so will need to dig the pattern out.
I have now finished my evening sewing classes in time for winter, just signed up for a Saturday one day course making Christmas gifts in December.  I am going to the pop in sewing class on a Monday morning instead.  It is just to be sociable really as it is easy to become isolated here in the winter months and I prefer to go out in the daytime.  This week I decided to start making a few brooches after getting this book cheaply off Amazon

My two little efforts underneath now just waiting to be finished off.  I like these sort of projects as you can just use what bits and pieces you have and I ordered the brooch pins from EBay, 50 for under £3 so I will be able to make plenty of them.

We have been out and about for dentist appointments and food shopping and down to Inverness looking for work boots for OH as he has a hole in the bottom of the ones he is wearing and we needed a new toilet seat too. OH has been unable to get his current job completed as its outside and its rained all the time but I have been having a busier week.  As he is the one at home, he has been making the dinners and we have been having warming things like jacket potatoes, beans and cheese and he makes a pretty good chilli that we have over two days.  He always makes me a nice cup of tea as soon as I get in so I am lucky that he's so house trained!  I forgot to show you the new table mats that he brought for me whilst I was away on my girls weekend.

Aren't they great, I love them and he chose individual ones that I would like.  They certainly brighten up the dining table.

  4. I am making a bag with several scraps of tartan too. I hope you don't mind me pinching your heart in the middle idea. It really lifts the design.
    Keep warm
